Internships

Who can be an intern?

Any Orthodox Christian of any age (18+). Special consideration will be given to applications from anyone prepared to be fully immersed in the life of an Orthodox Mission.

Types and Length of Internships

There are 3 types of internships:

-          Full Internships

-          Short-term Internships

-          Non-resident Internships

Full Internships will normally last for one year. A whole year internship permits the intern to experience all the “seasons” of inner-city mission work as the needs and opportunities and demands vary throughout the year.

Short-term Internships are intended for those who are able to come only for shorter periods of time e.g. during summer or other vacations. You will experience all aspects of the Intern Program during your time with LTS.

Non-resident Part-time Internships are intended for those who live in the Greater Toronto Area who wish to participate in the Intern Program. The extent of participation will be by mutual agreement.

Cost: The cost of an internship will be $4,200 (Canadian) per year ($350 per month or pro rata) Interns will either pay this amount personally or seek sponsorship.

Accommodation: Accommodation and board will be provided by the Mission and is included in the total cost.

Insurance: Interns will be expected to provide their own medical insurance.

Travel: Interns will pay their own travel to and from Toronto.

Commitment

Inner-city mission work needs a real commitment on your part. Whilst the School will ensure your health well-being with proper periods for rest and recreation, we do ask that during your internship you accept the need to be at the school and the Mission at certain times.

Full Interns: These times include the Christmas Fast and Christmas itself (December 25th) and also the whole of Great Lent and Pascha. Outside of these periods Full Interns will be entitled to 21 days holiday during the intern year to be used by mutual agreement between the intern and the Prefect of LTS. Additionally, interns can expect some time in programs outside the City of Toronto.

Short-term Interns: you should expect to involve yourself fully in the intern program whilst at the LivedTheologySchool.
